HOW TO TAKE APART AN HP h2200 iPAQ PDA
TO REPLACE A MOTHERBOARD, SCREEN,
CASING OR OTHER COMPONENT

NOTE: This guide applies to all models in the 2200 series
of Hewlett Packard iPAQs including the 2210 and 2215.

To remove and refit the HP iPAQ h2210 motherboard or screen (or both) you will need a T6 Torx
Screwdriver, a small crossheaded (phillips) screwdriver and a small thin bladed flat screwdriver.

Firstly, you need to remove both of the iPAQ's rubber side grips by pressing them in at their lowest point and then sliding them upwards as shown by the blue arrow in the photo on the left.
Then you have to remove the short silver torx screw now exposed on each side as shown by the red arrow in the photo on the left.
Release the iPAQ Battery Cover from the rear casing and remove the battery. Then you can unscrew the four short silver torx screws inside the battery compartment and the two longer silver torx screws at the base of the rear casing as shown by the red arrows in the photo on the left
You can then release the rear casing from the front by pressing the catches on each side shown by the blue arrows in the photo on the left.

Then by carefully sliding the blade of the small flat screwdriver between the gap the two halves of the casing can easily be separated.
Now that you are able to see the iPAQ's motherboard you must remove the two small black crossheaded screws either side of the top of the motherboard as shown by the red arrows in the photo on the left.
Now gently prise the small Microphone plug off its socket at the top right corner of the motherboard.

Then carefully raise the small brown plastic bar on the top of the motherboard screen connector which frees the screen's ribbon cable as shown by the red arrows in the photo on the left.

THE MOTHERBOARD CAN NOW BE REMOVED: If only replacing the motherboard simply reverse the procedure above with the new motherboard.

IF YOU NEED TO REMOVE THE SCREEN CONTINUE BELOW.
Now that you are able to see the screen you must remove the two small black crosheaded screws either side of the base of the screen as shown by the red arrows in the photo on the left.

Then you must release the screen from the casing by pressing the catches on each side shown by the blue arrows in the photo on the left.
Now the screen can be removed by tilting upwards as shown in the photo on the left

To replace the screen simply reverse the procedure above with the new screen.

When you have reached the stage in the above photo you can also easily replace the
iPAQ joystick, microphone or buttons on the front casing. Or you can replace
the speaker or battery cover door latch and spring on the rear casing.
